Community allotments timetable

Learn to grow fruit and vegetables this spring through volunteering at Chyan's community allotments. Help us grow organic food to be sold locally and pick up skills to take home.

March

The month to begin planting, we will be planting lettuce, spinach, onions, potatoes, courgettes amongst other things. Help us build our raised beds and make weed free paths. A fantastic way to enjoy spring.

Volunteer on Tuesdays or Thursdays 10-2pm

April

The month when everything starts to turn green. A time for planting more seeds, thinning out last month's seedlings, earthing-up potatoes, finishing paths and building a composter for all those weeds we'll get rid of over summer! Help us get vegetables planted and infrastructure in place.

May

Its really warming up in May, by the end of the month you will have planted most vegetables including beans, squash and kale. You will have learnt about spacing, seedling identification, plant growth and water needs.

June

If we are lucky and it's a hot summer we will be getting used to watering over the next couple of months. Help us keep the vegetables healthy. We will start to taste the fruits of our labour, find the best organic methods of pest control and really enjoy being outside growing organic fruit and vegetables.

Chyan is a registered charity based just outside Falmouth. Contact us for more details on info@chyan.org.uk.
